A Party Inspired by Kim Seybert

Are you familiar with Kim Seybert products?  If you are, you know how incredibly beautiful her pieces are.  If not, I’m happy to introduce them to you!

Kim Seybert is one of the leading textile and tabletop designers in the US.  Her products are bold and dynamic and her use of color and textures is breathtaking.  I have a few of her pieces and love to use them when I  have a special dinner or intimate party.  Given that we are in the midst of party season, indoors and out, I thought I’d create a few party inspiration boards inspired by the Kim Seybert line to get your party planning kicked into high gear!

Be inspired and Enjoy!

If a Summer Soriee is on your calendar, why not make it as bold and bright as the summer sun?

Inspired by the Kim Seybert Caviar Collection  with round placemats in bright colors, graphic print napkins and pop rock napkin rings your summer bash is sure to be a lively one.

Add in a few iconic elements of summer like ice cream cones as flower vases or paper popsicle invitations and the tone for your party will be set.  I love the idea of hula hoops wrapped in decorative tape, metal folding chairs painted in primary brights and colorful treats to feast on.  Create a quick and easy tablecloth by painting wide stripes on a canvas drop cloth and you’re ready to go!

Let the festivities begin!

What is summer without a fun BBQ party??  I Love to BBQ and adding a little style to a casual outdoor party can be so much fun.  Paper Tassel Garland is a fun decorative touch and grouping colorful flowers in a metal sand pails (available from the dollar store)  will keep the decor festive!  To really make your table stand out use plaid melamine plates along with Kim Seybert Seersucker Napkins–how fun!  And, no summer BBQ is complete without lemonade served in mason jars with festive straws, popsicle with champagne (bubbly cider for the young ones) and cupcakes in the color of the rainbow!

Get the grill going and have fun!

For the celebrations that call for a bit more sophistication, the Kim Seybert Gold Collection is perfect.  I love the Nail head and Capiz Placemats, the Crochet Edge Napkin and the Pearl and Super Nova Napkin Rings.  For an elegant centerpiece, spray paint a clear glass thrift store vases gold and scatter iridescent pink and white balloons around the room.  Overhead, hang a grouping of gold paper fans and top of the table decor with a stunning gold and pink tiered cake and Kim Seybert ed Paillette drinkwear embellished in gold.

Gold is a surefire way to add “glam” to your gathering!

Room of The Week

In those moments when a colorful space feels all consuming to me, I long for a space that is quiet, calm and quaint!

A room where the color or lack of has incredible impact and allows the architectural details to stand out.

I love the texture that jumps out from the flooring, the simple and classic window treatments, the dark trim sofas and chairs and the subtle patternwork throughout that provides just the right amount of detail!

Color Inspiration: Pink + Orange

You can’t help by love bold color, especially during the hot days of Summer.

When it comes to bold colors in home decor, one of the color combos I’m smitten with is Pink and Orange. There is something  a bit preppy, a bit whimsical and a bit adventurous about this color combo.

Take a look at a few of my favorite spaces decorated in Pink and Orange!

Pink and Orange, whether interpreted in a bold way like the carpet or in a more subtle way like the wallpaper offers up a classic feel that is fresh and modern.  Unlike some other bright color combinations, pink and orange is not a jarring color combo to me.  Mixed white, this color combo is classic and timeless.

Used as part of party decor, pink and orange is sophisticated while at the same time playful and energetic.  This color combo is perfect for a summer brunch, a birthday party or even a milestone anniversary celebration.

When using two bold colors like this to decorate with, always have more be more dominate and the foundation of the palette.  Use the other color as an accent, allowing it to pop.

While this color combo is not in everyone’s’ fashion line-up, I love how the two colors work in harmony to create a true fashion moment.

An accent wall in a small space is the perfect spot for a punch of bold color.  Again, one color is primary while the other is an accent.

Daring and dynamic!  I love a striped wall and this pink and orange color is such a great way to energize a narrow hall or small entry space.  Not only does the color draw you in, but it makes the space feel important.

Maybe pink walls are not in the cards but a pink ceiling can be just as dramatic without being too in your face.  The neutral walls serve as a calm backdrop of pops of pink and orange used throughout the room.

Using ribbon or crepe paper streamers to create a tablecloth is one of my favorite entertaining tricks.  In pink and orange the table is interesting and festive.

Another great fashion moment with pink as a subtle accent high (the collar), mid (the gloves) and low (the shoes).

Pink and Orange can even work in a really traditional space.  Pick dustier tones of the colors and use them in one or two key areas while the majority of furnishings are kept more neutral.

In a larger room like this, especially if it is traditional, use a creamier white for molding and trim versus a stark white to keep the space from being stark!

Pink and Orange jewelry is a great way to dress up summer whites!  Bold earrings like this is all it takes.

Pink and Orange is one of my favorite color combos in flower arrangements.

This space uses pink and orange is such a great way.  Surrounded by lots of creamy whites and pale yellows the colors take on a softer more homespun feel.

Simply fabulous!

Another approach to this color combo is  going soft with one color and keeping the other bold.  The orange dresser is the power piece in this bedroom while the headboard, carpet and linens combine to make their own strong statement.

While my signature gift wrap is red and hot pink, I love the packages wrapped in pink and orange.  Packages wrapped in these colors are perfect for gift giving year round!

Bold patterns in pink and orange a perfect for a tween room or even a nursery!

I love this look and the idea of using one of the colors as just an accent against white.  A great summer look.

Room of The Week

Growing up in Washington State, I wasn’t familiar with the concept of a sun porch.  Here in Atlanta a sun porch is almost a necessity and definitely an added luxury to any home.

If I had a sun porch, I’d love for it to look a little something like this.

The painted ceiling is so refreshing and makes you feel like you’re looking up to the sky.

I love the idea of striped roller shades versus curtain panels or heavier blinds.  The somewhat sheer fabric, bold yellow stripe and simple details are perfect for this casual, cottage inspired space.

The rug layout is just brilliant.  A peek of sisal surrounded by four smaller patterned rugs, adding to the visual impact.  And, check out the multi color tile floors, bringing the teal from above down to floor level.

And finally, the furnishing make this a perfect cottage style space.  White wicker, a window seat, light wood tones and fun pillows.

Now all I need is a glass of iced tea!
