One the main reasons I started writing my blog was to share my love of “teaching” with others.  By teaching I mean sharing my years of experience, the tips, tricks, ideas and  inspiration that I come across, surround myself with and use when working with design clients, decorating my home or creating DIY and craft projects.  While I have the opportunity to teach design classes here in Atlanta, I can’t always share my ideas with those of you far away….until now.  Starting next week on the ConfettiStyle Interiors Facebook Page I’ll be sharing all those tips, tricks, ideas and inspiration in a new Facebook Only series I’m starting called…

Series 101

The series will focus on Interior Design, Entertaining, Fashion and Gifting, all the things I’m passionate about.

Think of this as a big book tips for living a stylish life!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve got a quick and simple Gift Wrap Inspiration that is perfect for adding a little fun to mom’s gift!
Slide1 copy
It’s no secret that I love paper products and one of my favorite crafts to make are paper pinwheels.  When thinking about how I wanted to wrap my Mother’s Day gifts,  I thought a Paper Pinwheel Topper would be a fun and whimsical touch.
Here’s how to do it…

Slide2

After making my pinwheels, I wrapped my boxes in polka dot craft paper.  I added ribbon bands in colors to match my pinwheel and secured my pinwheels as bows on the top of each gift.

It’s SPRING and there’s nothing I love more than spring flowers, even when it comes to gift wrapping.

I’ve got a couple of special birthdays to celebrate this month, so I got a head start on buying gifts and got them all wrapped up.

IMG_1678 copy

I wanted these gifts to be bright and bold so I choose a yellow and white polka dot paper, red flowers and orange ribbon.  I also wrapped one of the gifts in a green gift back using the same flowers and ribbon to dress it up.

    IMG_5823 copy

To make the flower band, I pulled the flower bunch apart separating the flower heads from the leaves. The leaves were attached in pairs so I had to cut them apart.

IMG_1675 copy

Next I cut a length of ribbon to fit around my box and then hot glued the leaves and flower heads to the center of the ribbon.  I layered the flowers and the leaves to make the cluster look fuller.

IMG_1676 copy

Then all I had to do was to wrap the ribbon around the box and tape it down underneath

IMG_1680 copy

I placed the flower band vertically on the outside of the bag and hot glued it to the inside and bottom of the bag.

This is a simple and easy way to create beautiful gift wrap and you can customize the look by changing the paper and flowers to fit your occasion.

Ok, I know I am not the only one who roams the aisles of HomeGoods and TJMaxx looking for inexpensive decorative accessories and comes home with a bag full of the adorable baking supplies.  Lately my obsession has been with cupcake liners AND the only problem with that is that I don’t bake!!!
Well, there is a method to my madness!  Upon seeing stacks of cute and inexpensive cupcake liners sitting on the store shelves I started thinking about other creative ways I could use them.  After all they are just pieces of  patterned paper and patterned paper can be used in lots of ways, right?  As that thought was running through my head the idea hit me…use them to decorate wrapping paper.

So here  it is, my latest Gift Wrap Inspiration using Cupcake Liners!

THE INGREDIENTS:  Decorative Cupcake Liners

THE PROCESS:

Wrap your gift box in the wrapping paper
Wrap a band of Paper Ribbon around the box
Create a Paper Ribbon bow and attach it to the center of the box
Iron your Cupcake Liners flat with an iron set on low heat
Attach the Cupcake Liners randomly over the surface of the box with double-sided tape

THE RESULTS: A Pretty Darn Cute Gift!

Just wanted to pop in and let you know about a great gift wrapping product one of my readers hipped me on.

After showing this Pottery Barn paper towel holder on my blog on Thursday, and writing that I would love to use it as a gift wrap holder but didn’t know of any sources for narrow gift wrap, one of my dear readers from Australia told me about Belli-Bands.

Pottery Barn Cuisine Paper Towel Holder

Belli-Bands is a line of gift wrap made and distributed by an Australian company called The Wrapping Paper Co.  These narrow bands of gift wrap measure about 3.5″ wide.  Belli-Bands come in a tone of styles, both solid and patterned, and are just perfect for wrapping small boxes, layering over larger boxes and would even be great for crafting.  Here are a few of my favorites patterns!

* NEW BB309 IKAT WHITE KRAFT

* NEW BB325 POHUTUKAWA

BB192 Japanese Blossom Red Belli Band

* NEW BB313 CONFETTI CARNIVAL

* NEW BB308 LARGE DOT WHITE/KRAFT

BB247 Tranquility Rose Blush Belli Band

BB632 Ice Flurry Red Brown Kraft Belli Band

BB755 Vintage Baubles Black/Gold Belli Band

The Wrapper Paper Co. also makes a 19″ wide roll of gift wrap paper too.

Of course after discovering this fabulous gift wrap source I immediately emailed them to find out if they ship to the US or have retailers here that sell their products.  I’m waiting to hear back and will be sure to let you know as soon as I do.  Fingers crossed that they ship to the US or have a distributor here!

And thanks Virginia for stopping by ConfettiStyle and telling me about this great gift wrap product!

Gift Wrapping Tips from The Most Gifted 1

Our first most Gifted Wrapper is Lia!  Lia is the Creative Director of Elli Design Studio and was the winner of the Most Gift Wrapper Contest. Beautiful is the only way to describe the gifts wrapped by Lia!

 Lia’s gift wrapping tips…

  • Use tissue paper and paper scraps to create beautiful embellishments for your gifts like paper flowers, paper bows and snowflake toppers.
  • When a plain store-bought gift bag won’t do your gift justice, make your own using fancy wrapping paper and ribbon.

To see more of Lia’s gift wrapping ideas and view the tutorials for making paper flowers and gift bags,  check out the Ellinee Blog.  You’ll also find beautiful cards and stationery products in the Ellinee Shop!

Gift Wrapping Tips from The Most Gifted 3

Next up is Carol!  Carol is the owner and designer of Jolie Colis, The Perfect Parcel, an online custom gift wrapping shop.  Carol can work some magic with paper and ribbon and creates some of the most stylish gifts I’ve seen.

Carol’s gift wrapping tips…

  • Create re-usable keepsake boxes by wrapping two-piece boxes separately, to avoid having to tear paper. It’s a pretty and green way to wrap a gift.
  • Personalize gift boxes with photos instead of name tags. Not only is this incredibly cute and sentimental, it’s great for smaller kids who aren’t reading yet. They’ll see their face on the gift and know it’s for them.

The Jolie Colis website is filled with beautiful wrapping images and be sure to follow the Jolie Colis Blog for even more ideas and inspiration.

You can also buy Carol’s custom wrapped boxes via her Etsy Shop.

Gift Wrapping Tips from The Most Gifted 4

Now let me introduce Shasta!  Shasta loves gift wrapping so much that she created a blog on the very subject.  Shasta loves to wrap with unique papers and color combinations which give here gifts even more style.

Shasta’s gift wrapping tips…

  • Look at alternatives to traditional ribbon to wrap your gifts in.  One favorite idea is to create paper ribbons by wrapping gifts in contrasting paper bands.
  • When you want a bold topper for your gift, create a paper fan topper that will add lots of pizazz!

Shasta’s blog,  Shastablasta Wraps Presents Well is where you’ll find more gift wrapping tips, craft projects and lots of amusement.

Shasta also has an Etsy shop where she sells letterpress cards and craft items.

Gift Wrapping Tips from The Most Gifted 5

Our next Most Gifted Wrapper is Sheryl.  Sheryl is the owner of a great stationery and paper store in Chicago called Stationery Station.  Sheryl has been wrapping for years and love

Sheryl’s gift wrapping tips…

  • Layers, Layers, Layers are the way to create beautifully wrapped gifts.  Create belly bands by layering several scraps pieces of paper together and wrapping them around a package.
  • Use unusual and unexpected items like dried flowers, ornaments and craft beads to embellish your gifts.

If you live in Chicago, make sure to stop in and visit the Stationery Station or check out the Stationery Station website for more inspiration!

Gift Wrapping Tips from The Most Gifted 2

Next up is Michelle.  Michelle is a uber talented Theatre Artist and Puppeteer from Brooklyn.  Having worked at one of my favorite stores, Kate’s Paperie for years, Michelle knows the ins and outs of creating beautiful gift wrapping.  Her forte’ is elegant embellishments.

Michelle’s gift wrapping tips…

  • Use glitter as a way to embellish plain paper and gift wrap accents.  The white swirls on the gift above were created with chunky white glitter!
  • Another way to add interest to your gift wrap paper is by sewing papers together to create layers ( see package with red velvet ribbon).

You can follow Michelle at here blog, Michelle Beshaw Blog or find more of her inspiration on her website, Michelle Beshaw!

Two of the other contestants were not able to take part in this blog post as they are SUPER busy wrapping gifts and running businesses this time of year.

  • Michelle at Playthings Toy Shoppe in Louisville, KY.  Michelle is co-owner of this incredible toy store and can wrap any size and shape of toy that comes her way!
  • Brenda is keeping busy managing a Papyrus store in California.  If you’re looking for beautiful wrapping paper, Papyrus is definitely a store you want to check out.  I just purchased a few sheets of beautiful paper there last week.

And, of course I couldn’t end without giving you a few gift wrapping tips of my own.  If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know I love to take everyday items and use them as part of my gift wrapping.  The unexpected is what gives my gifts their style!

ConfettiStyle Creative Gift Wrap (1)

I picked up a pack of pretty holiday paper plates and immediately thought they’d look great as a gift topper.  I punched a hole top and bottom, inserted ribbon and wrapped my box.    If you’re someone who decorates with a theme, you could also use the plates as part of your holiday dining table décor or even as ornaments on the tree.

Gift Wrapping Tips from The Most Gifted 6

Looking for a fun gift tag or package topper idea, how about paper wine bottle tags?  I picked these up at HomeGoods for $1.99 for a pk. of 10.  Wine tags already have a To: and From: area so they are an ideal option as a creative gift tag!

Whew, that’s a lot great ideas to absorb!  Now it’s time to get wrapping so get going!

I’ll be guest posting tomorrow over at Rhonda E. Peterson’s blog Stylish Places Designed for Living so be sure to check out the fun holiday decorating ideas I’ll be sharing!

XO Shelly
