I took a little break from work on Friday and scouted around Etsy to see what cool stuff I find.  I found lots of stuff I love, but there was one shop I fell absolutely head over heels for.

Angela Kay makes the most adorable iPad and e-reader cases using fun and modern fabrics.

The bags are priced between $43 and $53 which I think is a great deal for the uniqueness of the item.

Here are my favorites (among many)…

When it comes to decorating within a limited budget, painted picture frames are one of my favorite design options.  Not only can you buy frames at thrift store and flea markets on the cheap, but painting them yourself is a simple and easy DIY project.

Here’s some visual inspiration plus a few great sources for painted frames, should you decide to not go the DIY route.

We’ll,  here it is….our Christmas Tree.

Every year I create a different theme for my tree.  No, I don’t go out and buy all new ornaments.  I may take an element from a previous theme and create a new theme around that. And, I always try to hand make a few of my ornaments to give my tree a really personal touch.  Last year my tree was all silver, primarily mercury glass.

This year my theme is vintage inspired with a mix of red, mercury glass, burlap. sheet music and crafted elements.    I love the way it turned out!  Hope you enjoy it.

Sorry for the grainy photo.  The tree sits in front of french doors and the sunlight is killer.

Here’s a upclose detail shot of  a section of the tree.  The burlap ribbon is loosely wound around the tree and my sheet music rolls are tucked all around the tree.

The yarn pom-poms I made are wrapped around the burlap ribbon.  These will be making another appearance in my gift wrapping too!

The dress form I use when I’m making my jewelry is tucked to the side of the tree. I hope one day she’ll be wearing that fur vest that is on my Christmas list.

These are the ornaments that were under construction a few days ago.  I used cardboard coasters, sheet music, saying tags and tinsel string  to create them.  Each one has a jingle bell and twine holder.

I also made these clear glass music ornaments.  I cut some sheet music into thin strips, wound it around a pencil and then inserted the curled paper pieces into clear glass ornaments.  A tiny bell hangs from the top of each ornament.

These sheet music pin wheel ornaments were also handmade.  After creating the pin wheel I placed a decorative paper circle in the center and then layered on a tiny mirror circle for shimmer.

This ornament was purchased and fit in with my theme perfectly.

My tree skirt is a red ruffle edge shawl that I have.  It works like a charm.

p.s.  the circle tag on the gift under the tree was my inspiration for my ornaments.  I purchased it from Pottery Barn.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Christmas tree and all my handcrafted goodness.  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I’ll be back Monday with all the finishing touches to my decor….front door wreath, gift tags,  Christmas cards and my holiday gift wrapping!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Now that Thanksgiving is over (and I hope yours was great),  it’s time to start thinking about your Christmas Cards.

When it comes to Christmas Cards, I always try to make my cards by hand rather than buying boxed cards from a store.  I think handmade cards are a great way to infuse a unique touch into the season and share something special with family and friends.

I know many of you may not have the time, energy or desire to make your cards by hand, but love a handcrafted card just as much as I do, so I’ve spent a little time roaming around Etsy and have come up with 8 of my favorite handcrafted cards ready and waiting for you to buy and send this holiday.

Check them out…

A beautiful work of art…classic and elegant. DancingPenandPress

I love the mix of materials and all the texture this card has.  ShopPaperScissors

Simply adorable!  SusanTracie

I love the fun and whimsical feel of this card.   Robinandtea

Love all the pattern mixing going on with this card.  Comingupcrafts

What a unique take on a Christmas Card..Christmas tags.   These would also make great gift tags as well. thefunkiejunkie

Bold and beautiful…nothing says Christmas like a holiday ornament. ChampagnePress

A little touch of retro styling gives these cards lots of charm.  AlmondCrafts

So, don’t you agree these handcrafted cards and just the cats meow!

You only have about two and a half weeks before you cards have to be in the mail, so head on over to Etsy and get to shopping!

p.s.  I’m in the process of making my Christmas cards and will be sure to share the fun when the glitter settles.

Happy Monday!

Thanksgiving is only 8 days away and if you’re a bit behind in getting your table decorations pulled together, don’t fret because it’s Etsy to the rescue.  I’ve scoured the collection handmade and vintage items available on Etsy and have assembled some fabulous Thanksgiving inspired tabletop items that will make your table a stand out on the big day.

4)  I think these adorable Knitted Wool Pumpkins from BobbiLewin would make the perfect place marker at your Thanksgiving table.  Add a name card and you’ve done.  p.s.  don’t forget to let you guest take a pumpkin home with them as a party favor. $22

5)  How cute are these Thanksgiving Toppers?  Add one to each persons slice of pie, cake or cupcake and put a bigger smile on everyone’s face when dessert is served. $8.50 for s/12 by SongbirdGreetings

7)  I love a beautiful tablerunner and this one does not disappoint. This hand-woven Table Runner, crafted from old t-shirts will add style and elegance to your Thanksgiving table.  Crafted by TheSomedayHouse. $65

8)  I think every dinner or party occasion calls for a party favor for the guest. This Thanksgiving, how about placing a few sweet treats in these cute and crafty Favor Bags by SincerelySadie.  A festive message has been hand stamped on the front and each bag .  $4.25 for s/12.  {while you’re visiting this shop, check out the fun Christmas gift tags too!}

9)  If you’re looking for a cute bauble to use a napkin adornment, I say go for these Felt Acorns. Add a ribbon or twin and tie around each dinner napkin at the table.  So cute!  $16.00 for set of 8, by FairyFolk  {lots of color options, some with string loops already attached}

10)  And finally, I’ve discovered a Felt Garland that had my creative mind going.  How about running several of these down the center of the table to create a unique runner alternative? Or, what about dangling a garland from the back of each dining chair, for a festive touch.  However you use this garland, you’re sure to make your Thanksgiving table come to life.  $15.00 by AccordingtoShe
