Did you get the new Pottery Barn catalog in the mail?   I got mine last night and immediately sat down and flipped through the pages.  Wow, there are so many awesome new items that I am loving!

So over the top in love with this Cuisine Paper Towel Holder. And knowing me, I’d also try to find a way to use to as a gift wrap holder.  Anyone know a company that makes small rolls of wrap??

Jacquelyne Lidded Barrel Basket

The shape and hardware on the Jacquelyne Lidded Barrel Basket make it special.

Arden Lockers

The Arden Lockers would be such a cool piece for a kids room or basement.

Accordion Dual Kitchen Pendant

Love the function and style of this adjustable Accordian Dual Kitchen Pendant.

This Ikat Drum lampshade is over the top gorgeous!

and this Wheel Barrel Bowl would be so fun to plan a summer party around.

I could go on and on with the items I love but I don’t want to spoil your adventure of flipping though the catalog.

Pottery Barn always seems to deliver a great selection of unique, stylish and adorable items to fit any décor style.  As a designer, they are one of my go to sources for accessories and tabletop items.

P.S. You’ll love all the new bedding they just introduced and if Easter décor is your thing you’ll love all the rabbit themed pieces they have.

Enjoy the catalog and leave me a comment letting me know what items are your favorite.

I hope you had a great weekend.  I was able to get a little thrift shopping in but was slowed down by the pinched nerve in my neck with is causing numbness in my right (writing, do-everything) hand!  I start physical therapy this week so I’m hoping that will solve the issue!  Wish me luck!

One of the other things I did this weekend was catch up on some magazine reading and while flipping through the latest issue of House Beautiful,  a PBTeen lampshade caught my eye.  It intrigued me enough that I immediately headed over the PBTeen website to see what other things they had to offer.

After spending some time on their site, I was amazed at how many cool things they had that were not only appropriate for a teenager, but also great for someone like me who is about to celebrate her 21st wedding anniversary this week!

Here’s what caught my attention:

Wood And Wire Wall Multi Basket

Wood and Wire Wall Basket–Great for storing magazines or paperwork in the office.  I love the industrial feel it has and the numbers give it some added style.  $99.00

Scroll Border Mirror

Scroll Border Mirror–This would look great as part of wall gallery wall display.  I love the slightly distressed finish and the beautiful teal color!  $98.99 On Sale.

Bone Frames

Bone Frames–So great looking.  The ethnic patterns and color combinations are so on trend right now.  What a great way to add a splash of pattern and color to a tabletop vignette.  $24.99 to $28.99 On Sale.

Braided Shade

Braided Lampshade–This is a super chic lampshade for a teen store.  I love the rope trim detail!  $38.99 On Sale.  I just might have to pick one of these up!

Teardrop Chandelier

Crystal Teardrop Chandelier–Stunning!  A great piece over a bathtub, vanity or in your home office.  $109.00 On Sale!

Ruffle Rings Shower CurtainRugby Stripe Shower Curtain

Shower Curtains–Loving their collection of stylish shower curtains.  $38.99 to 69.50

Kaleidoscope Kilim Rug–Love, Love, Love the colors, pattern and texture.  $169.00 to $699.00

Furlicious Desk Chair–Ok, I just lost it when I saw this chair.  So fabulous and a great buy at only $299.00.  This baby may end up on my Christmas List!

The Ooh La La Swivel Chair was my other favorite. How great would this look in a girly office or craft space.  $238.99 (for lime green) $349.00 for other colors!

So I know I’ve got you ready to hop in your car and head to the closet PB Teen store.

First one there wins!

Happy Shopping!

I’m a little old school when it comes to dining room designs.

I love a formal dining room (although in most cases it only gets used 1 or 2 times a year)!

I love traditional curtain panels that add softness and elegance to a dining space.

I love a solid wood table over any other material.

Upholstered chairs win out over all wood chairs in my book.

I love the idea of the king and queen chairs being different from the other chairs…after all, the heads of the house deserve a special seat.

I love a dining space with a drop chandelier or pendant. And, if you can pull off the look of two light fixtures that’s even better.

In my book, just about every dining room needs a mirror.  Not only will a mirror add ambiance to the space, but during the holidays it serves as a great decorating spot for garland!

A sideboard is not only functional in a dining room but balances the chunkiness of a large table and fills the room.

All things considered, this is pretty much a perfect dining room space in my book!

Have a terrific weekend!

One of the best ways to infuse style and personality into your decor is with unique lighting.  Used in pairs, lamps and chandeliers not only help to add sufficient lighting to a room, but when doubled up impact they make on the style of a room is powerful.

Here’s some lighting inspiration that will have you doing a double take, plus I’ve thrown in a little design wisdom too!

I love the look of oversized lamps on a console table.  So many times people lean towards tall, skinny lamps thinking they will be a better balance for a console table.  In many cases larger, bulkier lamps will create a more impressive table vignette.  Even though this table is relatively short, the lamps are a great balance against its chunkier lines.

Adding a contrasting color in your lamp shade is one of the easiest ways to give your lamps personality.  The round shade plays up all the curved and rounded details in this space, adding to the style rather than contrasting it.

Double pendants are not uncommon over an island but what makes these work so well in this space is the color contrast.  The black upper of the pendants draw your eye up and tie back to all the other dark details in the kitchen (chair legs, cabinet knobs and cooktop).  The white lower part of the pendants keep the lights feeling too heavy and overpowering.  I also love how the copper details play against the nail head trim on the chairs and the brown/copper undertones of the tile.

The matchy, matchy look is not for everyone but it works in this vignette.  The color tone of the mirror, chest and lamp bases are all very similar which create a higher end look.  The black shades and dark walls are just enough contrast to make the entire look pop.

So what’s not to love about these red pendants?  Red is obviously the accent color for this kitchen and pulling that color up to the ceiling makes a strong impact.   I love the exposed chain detail, adding a bit of a rustic vibe to an otherwise refined kitchen.

I’m personally not a fan of most wall mounted, swing arm light fixtures but when the shape is unique and when positioned over the bed (versus on the side), I’m all for it.  These lamps are as much a design element as they are a functional element.

p.s.  Take note of the bed cover detail.  Fab!

A great alternative to traditional table lamps in a bedroom are double chandeliers over each nightstand.  I love how these chandeliers have just the right amount of detail to be noticed but almost fade away into the background of the room.

Lamps in a bathroom are such an unexpected and elegant touch.  When space allows, go for two lamps versus one and keep the other accessories to a minimum.  Use lamps that are the same color as the fixtures so the lamps become part of the architecture!
