One of my new party décor obsessions is Tassel Garland.  There is just something so playful and charming about these dangling poufs of paper pieces.  I especially love them in metallic but just about any color combination is a great way to style a birthday party, baby shower or cocktail soiree for friends.

I spent time on Saturday making 30 tassels to use at an event the non-profit I work with was holding on Sunday.  Unfortunately the event was cancelled due to weather so now I’ve got 30 tassels to do something with.  I guess a party is in order!

One of the easiest and cost-effective ways to introduce style into your next dinner party or festive event is by using decorative Cocktail Napkins.
source
Cocktail Napkins can be incorporated into your décor to fit your design or color theme.  I love to use cloth cocktail napkins but designer paper napkins often win out because of their ease and cost savings.
source
When using paper cocktail napkins, you’ll create a more stylish look if you use a mix of coordinating patterns and/or colors.
Source
For more casual entertaining, quotable cocktail napkins are fine, but shy away from these for more formal or elegant events.
source
And don’t forget to serve up your cocktail napkins in pretty holders or containers so that every element of your décor is chic!

And if you’re the one being invited to the party and not hosting it, cocktail napkins make an ideal hostess gift!

The Oscars are this Sunday and if you are throwing an Oscars viewing party, here are a few really great party décor ideas I’ve rounded up for  you.

Oscar party

This Clapperboard can easily be made with foam core, chalkboard paint and chalk.  I’d use it on the food buffet or if I was having a sit down dinner, I’d create one for each place setting and use it as a placemat alternative.

Did you know…
A clapperboard is a device used in filmmaking and video production to assist in the synchronizing of picture and sound, and to designate and mark particular scenes and takes recorded during a production. The sharp “clap” noise that the clapperboard makes can be identified easily on the audio track, and the shutting of the clapstick can be identified easily on the separate visual track. The two tracks can then be precisely synchronised by matching the sound and movement.

Oscar Party! Our hostess tips here: http://bit.ly/yYukWI

A cute and easy way to dress up a beverage glass for your big shindig.  Check the hair accessory aisle for the bows which will save you from crafting your own.

Oscar party centerpieces/ awards

Who knew a Ken Doll could be turned into an Oscar statue?  Glue a piece of florist foam between the hands and insert flowers.  Fresh flowers will last through the night.

Oscar party ideas

A little computer time and you can create fun labels for your bottled beverages.

popcorn bar for OSCAR Party

Every 3+  hours awards show calls for popcorn and why not give it a chic look by creating cones made from decorative cellophane and propping them in champagne glasses.  The silver tray adds a touch more glam!

Oscar Party

Dollar Store plastic glasses and bowls take on a glamorous feel when you spray paint them (on the outside) with gold paint. Use them to serve individual serving of candy and treats.

DIY Oscar Party Voting

I don’t know if my husband will play along with this one but I’m going to give it a try.  Throughout the show, jot down the names of actors that take the prize of categories you create.

Category ideas:

Best Acceptance Speech

Best Hair

Best Men’s Shoes

Best Looking Couple

Best Bling

Most Thankful

Best Potential Couple

If you’re having an Oscar party this weekend, have fun & cheers!

I love to style tablescapes for dining and entertaining and always focus on little touches that will make the décor special and unique.  One of my favorite elements to use is menu cards.  Normally reserved for weddings or formal dinners, menu cards can enhance all types of parties and entertaining events.
Here are a few Menu Card ideas I’m loving.
Playful nautical stripes
A simple card like this can be used for a ladies luncheon, garden club luncheon or a causal bridal shower.
 Beautiful old menu card
Although this look is super formal you could interpret this fan idea for an outdoor BBQ, a picnic/family reunion or an outdoor concert when you and a group of friends rent one of the dining tables.
love the circular menu card.
I love the idea of a round menu card using chalkboard paper or black cardstock and a white paint pin.  The circle fits perfectly in the center of the plate and can be place under the plate when service begins.  So chic!
Chocolate menu
How fabulous is the idea?!!  The perfect menu card for a wedding or anniversary party and the party favor is already taken care of too!
Menu card (may serve as a charger) over rose petals | WedLuxe Magazine
This menu card was created by etching or stenciling the menu onto an acrylic block that serves as the charger plate.  So dang gorgeous!
cool menu cards
The menu card as the napkin cuff…another brilliant idea!
Dual-purpose Wine Bottle ~ Menu, Table Name ~ Photography by michaelandannacosta.com
If you don’t want to create individual menu cards for each place setting, create a card to place around the wine bottles that will sit on the table.
Doesn't just have to be a menu card; could be a Thank You note, Happy Easter wish......(I could see leaving one of these on teachers' desks on the day before Good Friday)
Adorable!
Screen-printed menu napkins featured buttonholes so male guests could attach them to their shirts
A little extravagant for everyday occasions but for a wedding this is so unique!
napkins and library menu cards
Love this old school theme using library cards to write the menu on!  You can find library cards here on Etsy.
Menu Card and Plate
The layered look of this menu card adds to the bohemian feel of the tablescape.
menu cards
Another fabulous old school idea that is super creative.  How many of you remember making these when you were younger?
So many beautiful ways to enhance your party table.
