Christmas Tree in New York City

Happy Friday!

As you read this I’ll be fully engulfed in wrapping paper, ribbon and tape at the gift wrap competition in New York.  After all the wrapping extravaganza, I’ll be hitting the streets taking in all the Christmas decor, lights, music and wonder that New York has to offer!  Wish you were here to enjoy it all with me!

p.s.  I’m planning on wearing my camera out so look for lots of photos next week.  Until then, have an awesome weekend wherever you are!

Last week I wrote a post entitled Why Dark Walls Work!  As I mentioned in the post, I’m a fan of dark walls, especially if the end result is a room that looks like this!

So much to love!  I just want to curl up in this room and stay there until the end of time.  I love the mix of neutrals with black and shades of grey, and all the texture just adds to the ambience of this space.

This room should be the poster child for great design!

Why do dark rooms work?….

Coziness

Elegance

Drama

Sophistication

High Style

Depth & Dimension

Utter Beauty!

Have a fab weekend.  I’m off to Scott Antique market, spending time creating and spending lots of time at my desk!

Comfortable room

“Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style.” – Billy Baldwin

Decorating with things you love is one of the most important things you can do in your home.  While red walls in the living room might not be for everyone, if the color gives you a sense of warmth and comfort, do it.

If the most comfortable chair in your home is a bit worn and tattered around the edges but otherwise functions well, keep it.

If you love old stuff versus new and trendy stuff, collect it.

If MORE is better in your book than LESS, add more.

Whatever it is, surround yourself with this things that bring you joy and make your home a haven!

Enjoy the weekend!

Since I’ve got gift wrapping on my mind, I thought it would be appropriate that this weeks Room of The Week was a stylish craft and wrapping room.

So adorable is the is this room?   I love the variety of patterns used in the room, all which give this space a fun and vibrant feel.  The tile flooring is ideal for a craft space and by laying the tile on the diagonal the space has gained an added level of energy!

Organization is key in any craft space and the built-in shelving maximizes every inch of this space and allows for all the supplies to be beautifully displayed.

Little touches like the crystal pendant lights and the small table lamp add just the right amount of unexpected glamour!

This is truly a space to be inspire by and inspired in!

And, no craft space should lack stylish organization so here are a few organizational ideas too!

Love this bookcase turned craft center.  Tension rods are ideal  (and cheap) for holding papers, ribbons and wrapping paper rolls.  I love that you can see all your supplies when you’re working in this space.

What a great idea…turn an ordinary wire closet shelf into paper storage.

Brilliant!  No more dragging out the iron and ironing board, just reach for your flat-iron to get the wrinkles out of your ribbon!

More tension rod inspiration for paper and ribbon.

Lots of clever ways to store ribbon.

Traditional closet items can be put to use for craft supplies.  Digging the idea of putting a hanging plastic jewelry organizer to use holding small wrapping accessories!

After seeing all these creative storage ideas I’m gonna do a little organizing in my craft closet this weekend  and practice wrapping gifts for the big contest.

Make your weekend great!

Sometimes a great room design is not about the color it has but instead about the color it lacks!

The use of vibrant, bold color has been such a trend statement in home decor for the past few years that sometimes when you see a room designed around a limited color palette you feel that it is missing something.

This gorgeous black and white room has everything it needs to be beautiful, stylish and chic.  I love the dark pile rug and high glass black coffee table. There’s just enough contrast in the finishes to keep it from looking drab.  The white walls allow all the textures to pop and the subtle shade of washed out black (grey) give the space lots of depth and interest.

What a great way to make a statement when bold color isn’t your thing!

Enjoy the weekend and thanks for stopping by!
